To mwheattree ... The pictures referred to in this thread are American Army.

This isn't a picture, but it's how and where you can apply for a copy of your dad's service record.

The Royal Engineers has a museum and library in Gillingham in Kent, they don't hold service records for individuals, you can only get those from the link above, but they do have information about units, and you never know, if you can identify your dad's unit or units, you might be able to find a pic, and you may be able to find where and when his unit served and what they did.

My Grandfather served in WWII in the Army. Unfortunately, I do not know what ordinance or division he was in. His name was Paul Frederick Hill and I know he was in Europe. He also had a brother Richard "Dick" Hill who served in the army and a brother Frances Hill who served in the Air Force all during the same time. The Hill listed could have been one of them. I know my grandfather ended up being a 1st Lieutenant and was decorated with two silver stars among other medals. I would love to know if the Hill listed is him.
