Surnames: Perry
I have a cousin, George Perry, who served in W.W.II and is believed to have died in Holland about 1945 and buried there. How would I find this out for sure as I haven't being able to find out anything on him? He was in the army ,a gunner I believe. He was born Sept.,1916 in Leeds England.

I don't really know to much about my cousin George Perry.I only know him as George. His parents names were George and Lily (Broadley)Perry. They all came to Canada in 1924 but he was sent back to England in 1929 to live with his aunt and uncle-Herbert and Emily Young at 24 Arthington View Hunslet Leeds. I don't know where he was living at the time of his death or whether he was married or not.His mother was living in Saskatchewan at the time of his death and I beleive his dad had gone back to England. I spoke with his brother in Regina, Sask., he said he remembers his mother receiving a letter just before xmas(1945?)stating he was missing in action. They received a letter later saying he was dead. He said he thought he was buried in Holland. He was a gunner in the army. I don't know if he received any medals.

George Perry's brother said they were notified about Xmas time in 1944 but I have a picture of him which he signed in 1945 and the stamp on the picture says 10 April so I'm not sure when they received the notice.

According to the ABMC website there is a George R. Perry buried in the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Belgium. I'm not sure if this is who you're looking for. He entered the service from Massachusetts, was in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, died on Oct. 9, 1944. His family should have received his Purple Heart.
