Re: KY National Guard: Troop I, 123rd Calvary - WWII
Harold Dwight Tipton was my grandfather, and he did pass away in 2005. His sons were Ernie, Bobby, and William (my father, who just passed away 1/21/13). The accounts in the book are very accurate and he spoke highly of the men he served with. Hope you find more info about the family you were searching for.

Re: KY National Guard: Troop I, 123rd Cavalry - WWII
I am sorry to hear of your father's passing. Little by little I am finding more information on the 106th CA AA and the 123rd Cavalry. I have found that Carlisle Barracks in PA, and the Eisenhower Museum in KS have quite a few records on the 106th. I just haven't had the time to send requests for the records I want. Thanks for your response.

Re: KY National Guard: Troop I, 123rd Calvary - WWII
Kristin, Thanks for your response. I was able to obtain a copy of the book by your grandfather about a year ago. It was helpful in tracing the movements of the 106th CA AA.

Re: KY National Guard: Troop I, 123rd Calvary - WWII
Kristin, My grandfather was Harry Jeffries, one of the original members of the “Dog” Battery that survived the war. I have a copy of your grandfathers book but it is staring to fall apart. If you still have an extra copy or two I would be very interested in buying them. Please contact me (atsiler1865@gmailDOTcom) & let me know, thank you.

Re: KY National Guard: Troop I, 123rd Cavalry - WW 2
"Calvary" = where jesus christ was crucified.
Cavalry = men riding on horses in the military.
A clarification long overdue.
