My name is Janet Langley,I am looking to get information on a Merchant Marine ship (or any other ships) that was in Goosebay, Labrador, Canada in May/June 1971. I am spefically looking for the name of the ship and mens names aboard the ship. I am sorry I do not have any more information to help. I am looking for my biological father and was told he was a merchant Marine, first name Mike last name possibly Michaelson/ Michelson. Any info would be GREAT!

Ancestry has names indexed for ships passengers and crews. Doing a search of Mike (Exact, Similar, Sounds Like and Initials) and Mich*elson (Exact) and "All Collections", there is 192 results. Doing a quick scan most are too early of records or not correct name. A couple look promising but they are Canadian and British Ports and I only have US Ancestry, not World. But one is a US Port... a ship named "Pacific Northwest" with a British crew that arrived Feb 26, 1956 in Seattle, Washington. There is a Michael Michaelson age 21, was an Asst Steward. Reported to ship 12/22/1955 at M/CR (could be Manchester, UK according to internet search) continued with ship after Seattle. Claimed British Nationality, has what I think is a passport number or merchant seaman Serial Number-R208625. If your bio dad was born about 1935 making him about 36 years old in 1971 then this might be a match.
Good Luck
