Would like to communicate with anyone who might have known my uncle Omar. He did March 24, 1945 crossing the Rhine River into Germany. I would like to know more about him. Any help will be appreciated.

No. I really don't know much more than that. I would love to hear what you might know about him or his unit. We just had a memorial service for his widow today so I can no longer ask her for information about him. Any information would be appreciated.

Pfc Omar H. Rufkahr, 37187603; entered the service on June 8, 1942; was a Cpl when KIA Mar 24, 1945 - buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
I only know that he was in H Co. - a heavy weapons company, so he operated a machine gun or mortar. Do you have any photos or stories? My grandfather, Wm. Herrin, was in the same Co.. He just died this past March. I am collecting info on this Co. to try and tell some of its story for family or anyone interested.

If you go to google.com and type in Photo and Lithograph Form. Make a copy fill it out and send in. They will send you a photo of his grave for free. Also go to google and type IDPF Army and that will tell you how to get information on his death.

I wish I could help you but I know very little about my uncle or what he did in the militery. I didn't even know he existed until I started working on the Rufkahr family tree. I know that he had an expert marksman medal that my dad was very proud of. I will try and ask him if he has any pictures or stories he will share but I can't promise anything. It moves my father to tears when he speaks of his long gone brother.
