Has anyone researched along these lines, and if so where is the best place to start? (here in Germany) I know that my German father-in-law fought with Rommel in North Africa and was shot down over the north African sea while returning, then captured and taken to America to work as a POW in a chain gang until he was eventually handed over to the British POWs camps, and then returned to Germany in the late 40's after the war was over. That is the only information I have on him. The Germans don't like to talk about it and he didn't keep any documents, except a framed picture of Rommel on his wall. I had a rare moment with him and asked him about it, and I'm glad I did...for my children's sake.
