USS Repose AH-16 - Looking for shipmates from 1945-46

Hi - My Dad served in the US Navy during 1945-46 in Shanghai China. The name of the Ship he was on was the USS Repose - I'm trying to find shipmates who may have photos and stories that they could share with me. My Dad is still living and this would be a great surprise to connect him with some of his shipmates after all these years.

If you have a family member who was on this ship - please contact me, I am hoping to find someone with photos for our family album.

Thank you,
Margaret

Margaret,
My dad was in Shanghai in November of 1945, while a Photographer's Mate aboard the USS Rocky Mount. I have one photograph showing the Repose and another showing a different hospital ship, as yet unidentified. Here is a link to a photograph of the Repose and an enlarged portion of the negative.

I haven't restored the photo, so you'll see all the defects present on the original negative. I can produce a better print if you like. The original is a 6x6cm black-and-white negative, made with a Rolleiflex purchased a few days earlier in Shanghai. I cropped the negative to 35mm (4:6) proportions for the photo at the link.

Hope this helps,

Hello Carl - wow - the photos are fantastic! You did an amazing job restoring them. Thank you for sharing - they are a real treasure.

I looked at your website and was really impressed with the restorations that you've done. I have an old baby photo of my Grandmother from 1906 that looks faded like the one you restored. I would love to have this photo restored for my Dad and family, if you're interested?

Thanks again - all the best
Margaret
