Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could help me, i am looking to find out more information, or how to find more information on my Maternal Great grandfather Thomas Black.

He was born 1888 in Glasgow and died in 1965, he was married to Marion Graham Milne Dickson .

I've found a diary, which my grandfather must have kept (Thomas was his father) , the handwriting is not very easy to read but there is a number like 73782 at the top (could this be his number?)

and then it reads, Private Thomas Black, i think it says 16th (may be 26th?) Field Ambulance
18th Division

There is a place name and a date 1st Jan 1917

I've attached a photo.

The diary documents i think mainly where they went , there are a few excerpts of what happened in the day, and some addresses of people in the back, some are scored out, so i am not sure if this is companions as some have numbers next to them. If anyone wants me to upload some pictures i can, as i cannot make sense of it at all.

kind regards
Sara
