I researched your relative and I couldn't come up with anything. I found information I am sure you have. I thought because of his being killed in action there might be a photo attached to some of the info.; but there wasn't. It doesn't mean there isn't.

I thought about if you could check and see if there is a local newspaper where he was born; that they might have a story about him with an accompanying photograph. You said you had information on him. There was a lot of info. on him; but I notice you have a lot of experience and you probably have the two casualty list that I found and information on his medals; they also have the diaries on ancestry. He was not mentioned; but his Btn. was mentioned.

The only thing about when someone dies from his wounds. It can be a day, week or any amount of time after he was wounded. If you don't know the day he was wounded; then unless the diaries mentions his name and most of them unless it is a personal diary. In my experience they list officers but not a lot of enlisted men. They only list sometimes the amount of enlisted men that were killed or wounded.

If you don't know the exact day he was wounded. The diaries that ancestry has don't help you much unless there is information that would give you a clue based on the info about the event you knew.

If you knew what he looked like. You might take it to the internet and list his unit and his battalion and you might come across photographs, films, and other photographs of the units in battle.

You might try it anyway; because you might find a film or photograph with the names of the individuals involved on the photographs or films. I have come across personal diaries, photographs of men and groups of men with the names listed on the internet when I have been looking for information. It is time consuming; but it can be rewarding sometimes.

I came across a commanding officer and his entire crew on the vessel that he commanded once.
In most cases it is very time consuming and you come up with nothing; but nothing ventured then maybe nothing gained maybe.

I hope this helps and not confuses.

God Bless and God Speed,
Danny
