That information on Ancestry is my father - the one who lived at Winterwell Road, West Melton. I have his details from the 'burnt records'. He was a late recruit, enlisting before he could be conscripted - he was a miner and sole provider for his mother and sisters.

Could you let me know what you mean by conflicting information - he was first of all posted to Cocken Hall and then on to the school in Sunderland - he wrote fondly of his time in Sunderland as his section of the Yorks and Lancs were invited to quite a few events by the people in Sunderland. One family took my Dad under their wing and when they knew he was going to France and not seeing his widowed mother before he went, they contacted his Mother and she came up to Sunderland to see him before they were sent off.
