I have a medal of C. Galloway's. He was a Private in the Canadian Infantry and was killed in action near Courcelette, France on 8 October 1916.
I am hoping to find his family. I can find no further information on him, other than his Canadian War Graves Registers.
I know nothing else of him other than his Service Number 460518 and that his first name was Clarence.
Many thanks.

According to his attestation papers, dated August 12, 1915, Winnipeg,
His next of kin is Mrs. F. Stewart, (his Grandmother) Gladstone, Manitoba, Canada.
He was 18yrs 11mos.
Clarence was b. August 22, 1897, Carberry, Manitoba.

1916 census - Manitoba
Clarence Galloway (ethnicity, Scotch) was living with his Grandmother Flora Stewart and his widowed Aunt, Kate Stewart.

The 1906 census also shows Clarence, aged 10yrs, living with his Grandmother, Flora.
My guess is that he was an orphan being raised by his Grandmother.

This could be a tough one finding living family. Good luck.

My gosh,
Thank you for this. I knew that he lived with his Grandmother and was wondering about her surname. I did not know that he had an Aunt Kate, with the same Stewart surname?
I am so grateful that you bothered to find this for me, many, many thanks.
