Hi all!
I am looking for any help in finding information about two of my Great Grandfathers who both served during the WWI. I’m not sure where to start or what information I may, or if any, find so any help would be greatly appreciated.
The first was named James Moran from Kingstown (now Dún Laoghaire) Co. Dublin, Ireland. I have a photo of him with a number of others at some sort of camp and all are wearing uniforms, although it could have been taken after the war. I have no information of his service or regiment only that he was wounded by shrapnel and lived the remainder of his life with a metal plate in his skull. He was born on 3rd June 1883 in Finglas, Co Dublin.
The second was Patrick Reilly ( O’Reilly) from Blackrock, Co. Dublin. On one of his children’s death certs, in 1918 he was listed a “Patrick Reilly Pte R.I.R” and the only other thing that is known about him was that he died on 11th February 1921 from a flu like decease and constant coughing up of blood. Some older members of my family state that he had been poisoned with mustard gas during the war and that he never really recovered from its effects. He was born in Blackrock on 12th July 1879.
Again any help would be greatly appreciated,
James Moran
