I wonder if anyone might be able to help, I have come across a document saying my great grandfather was mentioned in dispatches. My great grandfather (Robert CRICHTON) was in the Royal Engineers Motor, Airline Section and the document says he was mentioned in a dispatch from General Sir E.H.H. Allenby dated 5th March 1919. I have looked at the London Gazette entry but it gives no other information. How do I find out what he was mentioned for? Also can anyone tell me which campaign he might have be involved in at that time. I have tried to look up General Allenby but other that Egypt I cannot narrow it own any further.
