Upon checking the 1911 census my great grandfather was down as being a clerk within a biscuit manufacturers. Would a job like this make him exempt?

As i said we have no idea if he did serve or not? It could very well be that he fathered his child whilst at home leave but this would have been in approximately September 1917 as the child was born June 1st 1918.

Is there anyone who help find a war record if he has one? Or how do i got about looking for this? Still a bit of a novice at all this record hunting!
