I'm looking for more information on Johnny A. Johnson (and family, of course, if you know of them). Johnny's parents were Rolaf and Olive (Hanson) Johnson. His brothers and sister were Joseph, Sydney, Henry Melvin, and Olga. This what I know so far, from from Roster of the Men and Women who served in the Army or Naval Service (including the Marine Corps) of the United States or its Allies from the State of North Dakota in the World War, 1917-1918 Volume 2 Flagg to Lark (North Dakota Military Men, 1917-1918):
Johnny enlisted in Company D, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Minot, on June 4, 1917.
He was called into federal service, World War, on July 15, 1917. In this war he served in Company D, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard till discharge.
He was discharged on Aug. 3, 1917, as a Private, Surgeon's Certificate of Disability.
I believe he was born January 1885 in Holmes, North Dakota, and the family story is he died November 11, 1918 on base. What I am most interested in is how he died, more specifically why he died. According to the story, there was an accident on base, but I want to know why he was on base in the first place. Of course, the family story could just be a story but I haven't been able to find any records on his death, so it's all I have at the moment.
The other thing I am interested in, and that is more likely one of you will know or have access to, is what disability caused his discharge. If any of you know where I can find this out or just know what disability it is, please let me know. Thanks! :)
