Abner Triplett, where do I start?

Abner Triplett, where do I start?

Posted: 2 Feb 2015 5:33PM GMT
Classification: Query
I have this wonderful document (segment attached) that lists what is the military record of my 4th great grandfather, Abner Triplett, b Feb 1789, Chester SC...who enlisted as a volunteer in SC, Regiment 18, US Infantry, on Sept 7, 1813 and assigned under Capt G Butler, then later assigned to Andrew Jackson, Pensocola.

1-Does anyone know what the letters "D.R." and "J.R" stand for? D.R is listed before every entry of what command he was under, and the letter J.R. is at the end. Does D.R = Duty Record?

2-Anyone know of any website/book that shows the timeline of this war from the period of about 1813 to when my grandfather enlisted and then discharged in Sept 1818?

3-Does anyone know of any list of the Captains so I can trace this information?

Any help with this information is GREATLY appreciated.
