20th Regiment of Infantry
I hope this is the right place for this query. In looking at a land warrant for a Solomon Jones under Act of 6 May 1812, the description for said Jones is for "private in twentieth Regiment of Infantry" and the warrant is dated 1 Feb 1821. Can anyone help me find information about this regiment? All the information I am pulling up is Civil War and the warrant is dated before that. I can't find any information of a twentieth Regiment of Infantry before 1861. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!

The 20th Regiment of US Infantry (US Army) was raised in Virginia and served in New York state. You can download the following book off of Google Books (free):
Heitman, Francis B., Historical Register and Dictionary of the United States Army From Its Organization, September 29, 1789, to March 2, 1903
The book is in two volumes. In volume 1, pages 118-119 will list the dates that the regiment was active and its senior officers. In volume 2, pages 391-393, will list the battles in which the regiment fought.
I hope this helps you,
Eric Johnson

Thank you so much, Eric. I was able to find and download the books with the pertinent pages. You have been very helpful and helped open another avenue of research for this ancestor. Much appreciated!

Re: 20th Regiment of Infantry
His land warrant was 18764 and he got 160 acres of land in White Co, Arkansas Territory. I am looking for the parents of a Solomon Jones born 1824 whose mother was named Mary Ann b.c.1790 in NC and are in White Co, Arkansas in 1850, with brothers Thomas Jones and Jesse Jones. It looks like the Solomon Jones of the Land Bounty Warrant could be their father. Where did the older Solomon Jones come from??? Any dates??

Re: 20th Regiment of Infantry
I'm looking for those same parents. This Solomon Jones born 1824 had a sister named Martha E. Jones (confirmed through DNA) and she was my 2xgrGrandmother. I believe Thomas and Solomon were both in Sebastian County Arkansas in 1860. Feel free to message me if you would like to exchange information!

This fellow was an 1812 soldier, and his widow, Elizabeth, filed for his pension and received it.
