Good Morning,
My father, Verdell Middleton, served aboard the St Marys from the summer of 1944 through the end of his tour in February 1946. That ship was present in Tokyo harbor as the surrender agreement was signed and my father talks about watching from the deck using the ship's long glass. If your father served for any of the same time, I can ask my dad if he remembers him. He had several good friends on board, including a man named Judge Jerome Bates who was older than most of the crewmen. I will see him in a couple weeks and can ask him anything, but his memory is foggy. He was a radioman on the ship. What did your father do?
Sincerely,
Kevin Middleton
