my father served on the rixey. wayne j. hunt. he worked below deck transferring oil and water to keep the ship in trim. he told me about the battle of layte gulf the ship was in. apparently, the ship went in close to shore to pick up wounded soldiers, both american and japs. he helped get the wounded on board, then the ship took the wounded out to a hospital ship. if anyone has a crew picture to share, i would appreciate it. billpatjeff80@yahoo.com
