We will be dedicating a new exhibit on the USS Lexington Museum on the Bay dedicated to Lt.(jg) William E. Hall (MOH).We will display Lt.jg Hall's original Medal of Honor starting 8 May 2014, including his original flight jacket, flying scarf and other items donated by his family. The exhibit is in memory of all those that fought and died during the Battle of the Coral Sea. We have a fully restored SBD-3 in VS2 colors. The exhibit will also include several items from the early days of the "Lady Lex" including autographed photos and other original items from the 1933 and 1934 "All Navy Championship" baseball games.

Surnames: Moore
My father, Seaman First Class John A Moore, was Lt. Hall's radio man/gunner during the May 8, 1942 mission. He enlisted in the Navy in early 1941 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor on that infamous day in December. Moore died September 1944 when his plane crashed near Fallon, Nevada during a night reconnaissance mission.

I'm very happy to report to you that we placed Seaman 1/C John A. Moore's name on the aircraft back in May, shortly before the dedication of the exhibit. I fortunately discovered that Hall's normal gunner had been hit by a 7.7 round on the 7th. I can't remember were I finally discovered your Fathers name but found it in time to add it to the aircraft. In attendance at the opening was CV2 survivor Harry Frey from San Antonio. Send me your email to historian@usslexington.com and I will send you some pictures of the display. We painted the plane exactly as it was on 8 May 1942. If you have any photos or artifacts you would like to share, please let me know.
Thanks
