US Cavalry on Oklahoma Indian Reservation

US Cavalry on Oklahoma Indian Reservation

The family story is that William Wiener (born 1901 New York) joined the US Cavalry and was posted, or spent time on an Indian Reservation in Oklahoma in the 1920's-1930's.

Does anyone have any idea if records of this would exist and where I could find them?

Thanks in advance.

Actually, I gave you the wrong name!! I should have typed Morris Wiener! William was his father, and I apologize for the mistake.

Here's the story. Moritz (Morris) was born in New York in 1901, but then returned to Hungary with his family until his visa ran out, and came back in 1922 on the SS Saxonia to go live with his grandfather, Sam Fogel on East 8th Street - Lower East Side of Manhattan until his parents and siblings also returned to New York.

He is found living on the same street in 1926, when his parents return to America (from their ship manifest) to see him. By 1930, he and his parents and siblings are living in the Bronx.

The story was: He came back to the US at the age of 21 since his citizenship was going to expire (which I confirmed), lived in the New York with his grandfather for a short time (which I confirmed) and then joined the army/cavalry and was on an Indian reservation in Oklahoma before coming back to NY.

Now, either he went to Oklahoma between 1926 and 1930, or he went after 1930. I'm guessing after 1930 is more likely, but he was back in New York by 1936, as he was married that year in the city.

Any Morris Wiener appear in your book? Or any idea where I can find more information?

Thanks for your help!
