Pre-Revolution Colonial Military Records?

I am looking to find out if there is a database of pre-Revolution military records for the American Colonies? I have a few New England relatives that are styled in multiple places as "Lt." and the such, but I can only really find Revolutionary War and on as far as records.

For example, Lt. Benjamin Freeman (1686-1773) from Sandwich, MA. The Boston Tea Party didn't happen until after his death, and I seriously doubt that he would have still been in the military in his late 80's. Average life expectancy was about 35-40, if memory serves, and average life span beyond that was about 60ish.

Is there a place to find this information?

Further on this, it looks like Lt. Benjamin Freeman would have been in right around the time of the French and Indian Wars.
