The reason I ask is that I show two brothers Miles and Allen Dodge with wives names of Laura and Jeanette. They were miners in 1860 in Buckskin Joe, which is now close to Alma, Colorado. They tried to name the town Laurette after both of their wives names but, it eventually returned to Buckskin Joe. There was a post office by the name of Laurette and in 1862 there were four hotels in Buckskin, one was named Laurette House and Hall. This is in Park County Colorado. Any familiar names? You see 1859 was the big "gold rush" into Colorado and many went to Buckskin. I found it odd or coincidental that there was an A Dodge there in 1860 (or so).

The info I found on Miles B Dodge, he was married to Laura Maria Hibbard, Milwaukee, WI June 2 1855. It would probably be safe to assume that he and A Dodge both came from the Milwaukee area. Do you know if your A F came from WI?

On a different note, are you related to Carolyn Hartshorn?

This must be the same becasue my family settled in the area. Leadville which was just up the road, sort of and Bueana Vista, not to mention Tincup and such. It would be too much of a coincidence if it wasn't them. This is the inforamtion I have from the obit: Mrs. Dorothy Friskey died in 1937. She was the daughter of Col. A. F. Dodge who came to Salida in 1859 in a covered wagon. ( Salida) is relativly close as well) She had four brothers and one sister. Dorothy was born in MO while her parents were there on a visit. SHe came to Salide in 1869. Are you in Colorado???

Yes I am in Colorado (20 plus years in these areas). Was in Salida just last weekend as a matter of fact. I know that area well! If you e-mail me privately I will give you the info that I show and where I'm getting it. dsking@dskingpublications.com Buena Vista is about 37 miles South of Leadville and Salida is about 24 miles south of Buena Vista. Leadville is in Lake County, Salida and Buena Vista are Chaffee and Buckskin Joe is Park County if these help you with your searches.

Hi,

I noticed that you mentioned Leadville above . . .

Does anyone of you have old photos from Leadville?

I have some unidentified photos from Leadville during the same period as you are discussing.

Would you be kind to check if you can find any match between your photos and my photos or you might have information about some of the persons on my photos? My unidentified photos are published at the Internet page

I'll be grateful for every single clue that will help my research; my contact information will be found at the Internet page

Thanks!
