I know my dad was in the Army in Sept 1955 (my birth certificate says) I remember him saying he taught sking in Colorado & peeled potatos in Korea. Don't know if true. My brother said he was at Fort Carson. I have one Pic of him in uniform then last night my aunt gave this to someone to send to me. I'm guessing the 61st Infantry, battilion 8, co M? I am just guessing and the other patch(?)looks like a log any ideas? Name Albert(No Middle)Gonzalez, dob: 24 Jan 1935, Phoenix, AZ.

Ok after spending hours going thru patches I believe it is a river not a log and is the unit insignia for the 61st Infantry Regiment out of Fort Jackson, SC. still searching military sites for more info because he did end up in Colorado.

You are correct about the insignia. The 1st Battalion, 61st Infantry was assigned to Ft Carson from 1962 to 1968 when it deployed to Vietnam. Google it and you will find more info. Goood luck. Don
