Does anyone know how to locate a listing of soldiers who were suspected of dying in this explosion?
Loretta

You may wish to look at the book "Cahaba Prison and the Sultana Disaster" by William O Bryant. The actual numbers on those who perished are unknown.

Dear L.C.,
Thank you for your reply.
I have found many websites that offer the numbers of people who perished and the number who survived.
What I need is a listing of those people so I can see whether my John Curry was among them.
Sincerely,
Loretta

The Book "The Sultana Tragedy" By Jerry O. Potter (Pelican Publishing 1992) has a fairly good (albeit incomplete) list of the crew, civilian passengers and military passengers starting on page 197 and ending on 260. No "John Curry" is listed, but a "M. Currey" (Private, Company I of the Kentucky 4th Cavalry) is listed as a survivor. My G3 Grandfather and two more removed relatives were survivors of the Cahaba Alabama camp and the Sultana incident.
Hope this helps you,
Jerry Anderson
