Classification: Query
Surnames: GASMAN
August Gasman, born circa 1829 in Sweden, was living in the Town of Waupun, Fond Du Lac County, State of Wisconsin, USA, in January, 1862, when he was commissioned as the Captain of Company I of the 15th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, which was known as the Scandinavian Regiment. He fought with the 15th in the American Civil War until severely wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia, September 19, 1863, after which he resigned from the Army in April, 1863. I am seeking information on his life before and after his time in the army to add to a profile of him posted on the 15th Wisconsin web site. Any help that you may be able to provide would be appreciated. Thanks!
