Looking for more information on the following brothers who were born in Switzerland..........

BENEDICT & BENJAMIN GASSIER enlisted in Company H, 48th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. BENEDICT GASSIER enlisted in Milwaukie, Wisconcsin on March 7, 1865 and was discharged at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas by reason of a disability incurred in active duty Dec. 30, 1865. What happend to BENJAMIN GASSIER? BENEDICT GASSIER eventually went to Oregon where he joined the Grand Army Post in Oregon City on April 5, 1899. He changed his last name to GOSSER

Both brother's are in the N. P. S. indexe as Gassier but both used the surname of Gesser or Gess'er, in the Wisconsin roster Benjamin is under Gassier but Benedict is under Gess'er you need to be looking at both names.

Hello,
did you find an indication whether your gg-grandfather Benedict Gosser could be related with that person to be found in the Wisconsin Roster as Benedict or Benjamin Gassier?
The reason is, I am looking for the life of a Benedict Geser and therefore I am doing research on the above mentioned possibility also.
Regards,
Dr. Rudolf Geser
