Brian - I trust your research is progressing and I am looking forward to your book. I was wondering if you had any first-hand accounts from the men of the 17th about their muster camp experiences in/near Salem, VA in late 1862 and early 1863? The reason for my inquiry is I am currently doing a book on Roanoke County in the War and am trying to get material about this camp.
