I am seeking any Civil War information for Rev. Merchant S. Riddle born Sept. 25th 1850 (1847?)from Glenville, Gilmer County, WV; son of George M. Riddle. I am seeking to clarify if the following is correct about his Civil War participation ...

Enlisted in the Union Army, May 06 1864,

Reg. W. VA. Scouts
Discharged May 06 1865... duration of 1 year 0 days.
He served in Company B,under Capt. W. T. Wyant, as a scout.
After the war he was a GAR member.

Several Riddle men of this family (cousins) fought on both sides of the war, Union and Confederate. Any help clarifying my Great Grandfather's record would be greatly appreciated...

Hi, Robert Hope you got my last message; if not, then Merchant is one of the sons of my g-g-g- grandfather, Jeremiah Riddle. I am in the middle of researching the Riddle family members who served in the Civil War. I will see what I can come up with on Merchant's service record.
