Jeremiah Alpheus, 45th U.S.C.T., West Virginia

My ancestor is Jeremiah Alpheus, 45th U.S.C.Inf., West Virginia. Jeremiah is the brother of my GG Grandmother Mary (Alpheus) Davison. Mary, Jeremiah, Martha and Allison were slaves of William Shaver of Marion County, Virginia. There is a brother named Henry who also may have served in the Civil War. George Alpheus, a Black laborer of William Shaver is more than likely the father of Mary and her brothers and sisters. While there is an older woman listed in the slaves of William Shaver and her age might make her the mother of Mary and siblings, no name has yet to be found for her. I am hoping to find other relatives of this Alpheus family.
As stated on the Links and Announcements, the purpose of this Board is to exchange information about the members of the 45th US Colored Infantry who were assigned to West Virginia during the Civil War.

Very little is known about these soldiers and MANY of their Civil War medals, awarded by the State of West Virginia, remain unclaimed at the West Virginia State Archives.

A website that accompanies this board is found at
http://www.lindapages.com/45/cw-45us.htm

Please submit information about your relative who served in the 45th in West Virginia.
