I have some information on my relative Henry Bayerline (various other spellings including Burline, Beerline, Beirline, etc). I found a pension record for his wife on Ancestry.com's Civil War Pension Index. That led me to his regiment and company. I then searched the Google Book - Official Roster of the Soliders of the State of Ohio in the War of the Rebellion (
http://books.google.com/books?id=X7IKAAAAIAAJ&pg=PP1#v=o...) to find his entry as a Wagoneer and serving 3 years from Aug 17, 1861 to Sept 13, 1864 when he mustered out.
Does anyone have any more information or places to go (pension has some application and certificate, does that lead anywhere)?
I would love to find a photo of the company (38th OVI, Company F). Ideas?
I also would like to find his parents or where he lived when he entered or left the service. He is the last person in that branch of my tree and this is the best lead I have. I only know about his life 20 years later (late 70's to his death) and he was born in Germany. Ideas?
Any help is appreciated.
