Seeking any genealogical info on W.C. PLEMMONS, killed after dying of wounds received at the
Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863. PLEMMONS was subsequently a prisoner of war at Baird's Island or ???? Island, possibly in
Pennsylvania or
Maryland, dying a month after the battle. W.C. PLEMMONS' family was from the general area of Hot
Springs and Caddo Gap,
Arkansas. He may have served in the 3rd
Arkansas Infantry Regiment, the main
Arkansas unit at Gettysburg, which participated in the heavy fighting around the Devil's
Den, but a check of the 3rd's web site didn't reveal his name on their abbreviated unit roster. Would like any ancestral information and where W.C. PLEMMONS IS BURIED, if possible. This individual is my wife's great-great grandfather. Thanks! Jerry GARLEB, e-mail:
