Looking for any information on Archibald BELL who is buried at the military cem. in Ft. Smith, AR. Archibald was suppossedly killed ca. 1864. His stone reads" Pvt Archibald BELL Co. F, 2nd ARK Inf." no dates. From oral history Arcibald was an Indian scout for the army. Which army ? North or South ? I have not found Archibald on any census record before the war. His first name may have been James. His wife Sarah ELKINS b. 1836 lived in Scott co. AR with her parents in 1850. The widow Sarah BELL and her children are back in Scott co. in 1870. I cannot find them in 1860. Any help greatly appreciated.
