A John Tice came on the U.S.S. Shark to Oregon in 1846, and was wanted along with 5 other men for abandoning their contract and their was a reward for them. The John Tice I'm looking for arrived in Oregon July 16, 1846, lived in Marion Co.( from 1847-1860's) then Union Co.( died Nov. 1869), Oregon. I read that a lot of the military men at that time went from Marion Co. to Union Co., Oregon. All I have is census info. and land grant info. on him. Would like to know if there is any lists of names for the Navy, or Army for 1846-1869 for Oregon, and if there is does it give parents names. Would also like to know if anybody has info. on names of military cemetarys in Marion Co. or Union Co. Oregon. Any info. would be very much appreciated! Thankyou! Angela

Thanks, here is what I have come up with since my original posting.

Christopher J. Hussey, served as a Pvt. in Company B, 1st Oregon Volunteer Infantry, from 25 Nov. 1864 to July 23, 1866.

COMPANY "B", FIRST REGIMENT
OREGON VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

(A transcript of record)

Captain Ephraim Palerm's COMPANY "B", 1ST REGIMENT OREGON VOLUNTEER INFANTRY, Colonel George B. Currey commanding.

In the early part of the Civil War the Federal troops in the State of Oregon, were withdrawn for service in the East rendering it necessary for the State authorities to raise troops for the protection and defense of the State and its citizens. On October 20, 1864, orders were received from the War Department to raise a regiment of infantry in the State of Oregon as soon as possible. On the 24th of that month a law was passed by the State Legislature giving a bounty of $150. to each volunteer. On account of the inducements offered by the acts granting extra pay and bounty the officers of the State were enabled to promptly and efficiently comply with the call for raising a regiment of infantry, which was organized in the State of Oregon at Large, from November 11, 1864, to Jan. 5, 1865, to serve one and three years. It was mustered in at Camp Russell, Oregon, and various companies were engaged in operations against hostile Indians, taking part in numerous skirmishes with them, and rendered valuable service in the protection of life and property. It was mustered out by companies from October 31, 1865, to July 19, 1867.
I am looking to see if John W. CLINE was a soldier in the ACW from OR. There is some indication that the family came to Oregon in 1844. According to census records he was born in about 1837 in IA. According to his son's death certificate his wife was Mary Lousignont who was born in Oregon (according to census records). John and Mary's oldest child was born in 1869, so I have reason to believe that John might have served from Oregon in the Civil War, and therefore didn't marry until he was older (32 if the census records are correct). Most of the records I have found for John are in northern Oregon - Columbia, Clatsop, Washington, Clackamas Cos.

TIA,
Jan

I was told by my 4th cousin, Avis Bargery of Wolverhampton, Stafford, that Pat was descended from a Frances Kinsey, daughter of Samuel Kinsey, b 1901 Breedon on the Hill, Leicester and Elizabeth Jackson.
