Patrick BRODERICK, of Co.G 4th NH Vol. Infantry, applied for, and received, a Civil War Pension - (as per his civil war pension card).

You can order his Civil War Pension Records from NARA for $75 for the complete pkg., which would include everything up to 100 pages.

Go to :

www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/pre-ww-1-...

Use Form NATF85

In '04 I ordered my gggrandfather's (Pvt.John LEWIS of the 133rd NY Vol Infantry) pension records and received a ton of information, including records of his death in 1863 in an army regimental hospital, a record of his marriage to my gggrandmother, information on the birthdates and baptismal dates of their children, and much more that I would've never found elsewhere.

Good luck in your searches.

Mr. Len Traynor, who had done a lot of research on Civil War veterans (prior to the late Roy Parker, who was not the first, as is often falsely shown by Gray, who does not know a thing about Roy Parker, and had never known this decent gentleman, before his death) and had also worked on those who were born in Australia and New Zealand, and who had fought in the Civil War, had revealed, many, many years ago, long before Gray ever set foot on Australian soil, that a large number of men who had enlisted in New Hampshire regiments, had falsely stated that they were born in Australia, for a specific reason, known to themselves. Mr. Traynor had let us in on his research in this area years ago, but, thankfully, did not reveal this on the Internet, for he knew that there were those who would unscrupulously use his work, or take his data or images without his permission, and use it for their own selfish purposes, as was the case with a photograph of a Civil War veteran, in his possession. This was used without Mr. Traynor's permission, then when asked by Mr. Traynor why it was thus used, the user tried to claim that he had the photo for thirty years. Yet we knew that this was false, because this person had no knowledge of that Civil War veteran, at all, when he first contacted us in 2005. For this reason we rightfully do not reveal a massive amount of other data, or items that we have on Civil War veterans.

I am trying to acquire any information available on Thomas Mooney an Australian born Civil War veteran; relating to his life, family, descendants and especially where he is buried. All I have is that Thomas Mooney was born in Australia. His residence was New York City, New York and at 28 years of age enlisted as a Private at Bath on 10/17/1863. He mustered in as a substitute, into "G" Co. New Hampshire 4th Infantry, on the same date. He was listed missing in action at Drewry's Bluff, Virginia on 5/16/1864. No further record, date or method of discharge was provided. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated as I want to add him to the Memorial Website www.acwv.info.

Battle of Labadieville, LA, 1862. Union Killed & Wounded (mostly 8th NH Vols.)

From a copy of newspaper clipping I have:

The Daily Delta, New Orleans, Volume XVII, November 1, 1862, Page 1, Column 2.

OUR KILLED AND WOUNDED

We are indebted to Major Strong, Adjutant General of this Department, for a list of the killed and wounded among the Union forces in the recent battle at Labadieville. As a matter of course our loss was much heavier in this engagement than that of the enemy, as is always the case when a larger body of troops attack a smaller force in a strong position and acting on the defensive. The heavy loss speaks volumes for the gallantry and bravery of our troops, and show with what intrepid courage they flung their resistless column upon the enemy, regardless of the storm of missiles hurled upon their center by the intrenched foe. When the history of this affair is written, it will be found to have been one of the most dashing exploits of the war. We omitted this morning to mention that the enemy’s troops in this action were all veterans of Shiloh and several other actions, and are considered the flower of the rebel Louisiana troops. But flowers fade!

KILLED.

Capt John Q A Wanen, Co E, 8th NH Vols.
Capt John Killiher, Co K, 8th NH Vols.
Corpl J H Miller, Co A, 8th NH Vols.
” John L Putney, Co D, 8th NH Vols.
” J F Cady, Co F, 8th NH Vols.
Private Peter Doherty, Co C, 8th NH Vols.
” Gilford Gilman, Co D, 8th NH Vols.
” Charles A Russell, Co E, 8th NH Vols.
” L Bean, Co F, 8th NH Vols.
” Geo W Hill, Co G, 8th NH Vols.
” Azro Morgan, Co H, 8th NH Vols.
” Frederick N Judson, Co C, 12th CT Vols.
” Elisha Ashley, Co G, 12th CT Vols.
” Chas W Bigelow, Co K, 12th CT Vols.
” James Black, Co F, 13th CT Vols.
” John Vogt, Co I, 13th CT Vols.
” Chas Henderson, Co B, 1st LA Cavalry.
” Abraham Tenvilliger, Co C, 75th NY Vols.
Tallied to the 1st Maine Battery.
Good afternoon,

The Richmond Daily Dispatch (1860 - 1865) has been digitized and is now available online. It is completely searchable and chock full of stories that haven't seen the light of day in the past 140 years. This is the result of a National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and collaboration between the University of Richmond, Tufts University's Perseus Project, and the Virginia Center for Digital History.

You can search for a word or phrase as well as browse by date or by calendar year.

We hope you find this resource useful and ask that you forward the information to any of your colleagues who might also be interested.

Here is the link: http://dlxs.richmond.edu/d/ddr
Patricia McManus (living in Allenstown NH in1984 I think) came up in my search for my fathers brother Raymond Purvis. Raymond died in Dunedin FL. in 1984. But there was a permission for his cremation from his sons Timothy and Michael Purvis as per Patricia McManus (mother and Legal guardian) via Western Union Telegram stating the originating office was Allenstown, NH. I have been working on finding family of my fathers brother Raymond for seven years and just finally got this far so am still trying to get him into the family genealogy if any knows this Timothy or Michael Purvis or Patricia McManus I would love to hear from them. See attachment.
Thanks Rosemary Purvis-Lesher
purvis-lesher@comcast.net
