Hello,
Following up on an earlier thread, I've been researching an ancestor who served in the US Army and was killed in action in Europe during WWII. I've requested his Individual Deceased Personnel File (IDPF). I've received a letter acknowledging the request and am awaiting a copy of the file, assuming it's available.
In the meantime, I expect to have a bit of time in Washington, DC this summer and may have the opportunity to do some genealogical research there. Does anyone know of resources I can use in person in DC that might help me find more information about this ancestor's military service? (Or is it best to just await the IDPF?)
Thanks very much!
