YOUNGSTOWN – Mary Jo Walton, 81, of the city's west side, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, March 27, 2012, at Hospice House.

Mary Jo was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Youngstown, Ohio a daughter of the late John and Anna Markovich Savarin.

She was a 1948 graduate of Chaney High School and proudly served in the Women’s Air Force (WAF) during the Korean War.
After returning home from the service, she worked at Loblaw’s, the Tamarkin Co., and at Phar-Mor, before retiring in 1995.

Mary Jo was a member of Mahoning United Methodist Church.

She leaves a daughter, Dru-Ann (Ralph) Buzzacco of Youngstown, Ohio; a son, Mark (Nancy) Walton of Texas; four grandchildren, Jenna Buzzacco Forester of Naples, Fla., Sam Buzzacco of Youngstown, and Lizabeth and Jeffrey Walton of Texas; a great grandson, Connor Buzzacco; and many nieces and nephews including her “special” niece, Judy Savarin Santilli.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, George, John, Jeff, Steve and Michael Savarin, and two sisters, Ann Savarin Lovenshimer and Dorothy Jean Savarin.

At Mary Jo’s request, services were private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
