RAF officer deaths 1.1.29-3.9.39
Flt Lt Salmon K D Kenneth Darleigh Killed 5 Oct 38

Flight Oct 13 1838
Flying Accidents
The Air Ministry regrets to announce the following accidents: —

There is an article in Times on-line dated 6th Oct 1938.
It states the accident occured yesterday. (5th Oct 1938.)

KD Salmon was married to Florence Harrison (known as Daisy) of Rathfriland, Co Down on 1/8/35 in 2nd Rathfriland Presbyterian Church. Daisy was a schoolteacher. They moved to Farnborough, Hampshire in 1938 then settled in Farnham, Surrey and lived at a house called Thurland in a little village called Runfold. Kenneth was involved in secret and experimental work for the RAF at Farnborough. His tragic plane crash left his widow heartbroken an hour after waving her goodbye. Kenneth is buried in a little old church locally. Daisy returned to the NE to be with her family and sadly died 18th February 1942 aged 34, with Kenneth's uniform still hanging in her room.
