Aldborough Barracks Dublin
My Gt Grandfather Robert Moore was a corporal based at Aldboro (Aldborough?) Barracks Dublin when he married in 1877. I have searched everywhere I can think of to find out anything about him and his military record but have had no luck.I have no exact d.o.b. although I guess it to be somewhere around 1857. Please can anyone help? Many thanks

Re: Aldborough Barracks Dublin
Hi. I'm afraid I don't know and that has been my biggest problem when trying to find out anything about his military records. All I have is what was entered on his marriage certificate to my Great Grandmother which is that his profession was a Corporal in the Army Service Corps and his address was Aldboro Barracks. I have tried searching to see if I could find out which Army corps were stationed here at the time (February 1877) but no luck Thanks for your help anyway

Re: Aldborough Barracks Dublin
Hi ELLinSpain I have no idea where he was born. All the information I have is from his marriage certificate from February 1877. He was a Corporal in the Army Service Corps based at Adlboro Barracks and his father was a Jeweller. I do know from other records re his children that by mid 1884 he was dec'd. I did look on uk census for 1881 but couldn't find his father. Maybe I'll try older ones and see if he is there.

Re: Aldborough Barracks Dublin
their are 13 Jewellers in the English census for 1861 - none with a child of that name...
who were/where born his children? - wifes full name & where born?

Re: Aldborough Barracks Dublin
All I know is that Robert Moore (my Gt Grandfather) was 'of full age' when he married. His father is given as Thomas Moore Jeweller. No idea if in Ireland (now the republic)/England/N. Ireland There is a faily rumour (that is all that as got me this far - rumours!) that Robert was English but I have no real proof or information.
