I need help identifying a Spanish American War soldier

I desperately need help.

I have a photograph of a man... who is SUPPOSED to be my ancestor... taken in Manila, Philippines, during the Insurrection. I can include the photograph. He was a part of the 14th Infantry, Company A, which I deduced from the pins on his hat. My family told me his name was Richard Boydelatour, he died of a fever in US Military Service, and is buried in Florida as "Carl Latour". However... there are absolutely ZERO matching records of a Richard or Carl anywhere in the muster rolls and I'm simply lost now as to who he is. Is there any way to look up the muster roll of the 14th Infantry, Company A in particular, in 1898 when they were in the Philippines?

According to a bio of a William Derrington online he was in company E of the 14th and yes they were in the Phillipines, but in sometime in 1900 the 14th was sent to participate in the "American Relief expedition to China. The PI was 1899 to 1902.

What year did he die and what cemetery was he buried in in FL?

There is a Pvt Carl L. Latour tha died while in the service Jan 19, 1941 and is buried in St Augustine National Cemetery. He was listed as being in Coast artillery Battery E 13th Regiment.

If he lived after 1900 look at the Military-Naval 1900 census of the Phillipine Islands and other places.

Since you say he is an "ancestor" then he should have married and had a child before he died, so do you find them in any 1900 to 1940 censuses? Is he mentioned in any other family obituaries.

You could also check the Civil War pension index. I know we are not talking about the Civil War here, but the early Spanish-American War pensioners are on the same index. You can tell if it's a Span-Am soldier, because on the card there will be a tiny little "s" written right beside the word "invalid" and right before the pension application number. If he had a widow or minor children, there will surely be a pension.
