Identify a military metal

Surnames: Muldoon
I have a military metal, presumably from my 2nd great grandfather James Muldoon 1825-1910. Can anyone identify this metal or what it stood for.

I believe James was a member of the 1st Troop of Philadelphia which used to be at Broad and Callowhill.

Any information is appreciated.

The style of it appears to be more of a badge than a medal, it's very similar in style to the sort of sharpshooter/marksmanship/shooting qualification badges that have been, and still are, issued by the U.S. military.

NGP might be National Guard Pennsylvania or pistol, the date though, 1892, seems a bit late for someone to be serving in the National Guard at the age of about 73.

It might though have been awarded to one of his relatives, the "1 Year" tag suggests that it might have been awarded after one years service.

It might also be a shooting competition badge.

I'm guessing that if it is Pennsylvania National Guard that a military medal dealer in Pennsylvania will be able to identify it easily.

Thanks for the info. I had not thought of NGP as National Guard. The Philly First City Troop did become, or was, a guard unit. I'll have to take the medal/award to Philly and get more data.

That is a Pennsylvania National Guard pistol marksman medal. If memory is correct, it's for one year, multiple awards for subsequent years would be designated by the corresponding change in the number. The design changed quite a bit before they were standardized. I've attached a couple of examples. Here's the contact info for the First Troop of Philadelphia-
