Family history has it that my grandfather, Henry Bertram. who I remember well, was the son of of Henri Bertrand who in turn was the son of Henri Bertrand, the General in Napoelon's army. Family lore has it that Henri--tho son, fought a duel in France and had to leave the country in a hurry. He fled to Germany and married a German girl. When they got to this country, the name was booked as Henry Bertram. They settled in Pennsylvania. My grandfather was also named Henry Bertram. He was an engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad. One of his earliest memories was of feeding a soldier in the family barn in Pennsylvania during the cival war. He died in the early forties. My mother Ethel Bertram Donovan was his daughter. She was born in 1995 and died in 1987. I am her only susrviving daughter.
