James Allen Adams 1730-1789 Fluvannah Co. Va. R.S. J. Smith Regulars & Cherokee Expedition m Cecily Ford d/o Culverine Ford and Elizabeth. 1771 Justice of Peace of Albermarle Co. Had three children who served in the American Revolution. James & Robert by terms of their father's will received the plantation after the death of their mother.James wrote his will himself which was proved for probate 10-1-1789 when Cecily mentioned in a deed to son Charles. James gave Charles the property. 1796 when Charles and wife sold property it was subject to dower of his mother. Cecily Ford Adams appears in the Master Index to the Huguenot & in the index of the Vestry book of King William County Va. 1701-1750. She may have been from the Huguenot family Faure (French for Ford).
