Re: james POWELL- records of soldiers who fought and died in the crimean war
Hello James, I'm also looking for more information on a relative who fought in the Crimean War. National Archives in London hold some information, and have offered to do a search for a fee. When I've sent my information they will contact me with the cost. I can then proceed or not. In 2005 my Cousin found the Army Museum in Chelsea London, very helpful. At the time they had an exibition on the C.W. and there happened to be an expert there, a Major Brian Oldham (Retrd) who had some records also. I have to contact these places myself in the next week. So let's hope we are both lucky with our enquiries. Good luck with your research. Kind regards, Elizabeth Kirk

Re: james POWELL- records of soldiers who fought and died in the crimean war
Hi John, I found records about my 3x great grandfather who was a medical store-keeper at Kertch in the Crimea in 1856.The records are kept at the National Archives,Kew,London. Most of them are in the WO series.(ie.War Office). You can look at the online catalogue and just write in "crimea" and it comes up with about 600 odd document files.Better probably to enlist help from the staff.(which you can also do online)Do you know where he was stationed ? If you need more help let me know.
