While waiting for military records from NARA for gg grandpa, Charles Riley Smith, I thought I would pose a few questions from a learned civil war list!

Could someone recommend a source for information regarding a specific Company (Company I of the Ind, 67th Reg)? Would this info be at a state, national, or county level?
What would have been the role of a musician? Would he have done any fighting? (seems a silly role given the intense blood-bath of a war!)
