Greetings!
Wow, The Pocket is my "home territory"! There were no skirmishes or engagements in The Pocket although there was some cavalry skirmishing in the not-too-distant surrounding area including Floyd Springs and Gore, and a fairly heated skirmish at Farmer's Bridge (now Armuchee, Floyd County), all of these in May 1864 when Union cavalry was in the area, protecting the main body of Federals to the north, and Confederate cavalry detachments were posted north of Rome to provide warning of Union movements in that area. The Union cavalry was primarily Minty's Brigade (Garrard's Division) and the Confederate forces included, from time to time, Sul Ross's brigade, Terry's Texas Rangers, and the brigades of Ferguson and Jackson. I have written a couple of articles that address these troop movements and skirmishes and will be glad to provide this information to you. I've also written "Remembering The Pocket" published in North Georgia Journal magazine about 8 years ago.
Sincerely,
Dan Roper
