I have been trying to find my ancestor's military information, however when I search using ancestry no Mississippi records come up. Can anyone tell me why? He lived in Copiah County.

I'm able to find my ancestors' Civil War records.

What kind of search were you doing? Did you search on his name or in some other way? What do you mean by Mississippi records? Are you looking for muster rolls or something else?

I have hit a brick wall and am trying to confirm and decipher, so I thought I would start digging on ancestry again from the beginning since I have gotten Mississippi records before, it has just been the past week that there are not Mississippi military records and census showing up when I search my Mississippi ancestors names. I know there are records on the internet because I found the regiments listed on other sites, but can't pull them up on ancestry.
My problem is my ancestor was John Morgan (Copiah, Mississippi) and there are at least 3 Morgan families with Johns during the same period. I cant prove which one is mine.
If you have any ideas I would love to hear them, Thank you.

If the ancestor(s) served in the USCT, then Records will be found in the NARA section titled:
U.S., Colored Troops Military Service Records, 1863 - 1865. These Regiments were not
considered Regular Army Units until later in the US Civil War
