Enlisted as a Private on 12 Dec at Brooklyn
Mustered in Company A, 164th Infantry Regiment 25 Mar 1863.
April 11, 1863 Transferred from Co. K to Co. I
Discharged 25 Jan 1864 with surgeon's certificate of disability at Washington DC.
I have a Domimick Colgan that possibly fits this soldier but no proof of connection. This Dominick fell of the map after the 1860 census. The famiy was prominent enough in Brooklyn that I would think Dominick could be found. I am trying to find out what happened to him. There are only 2 Dominick Colgans of age to serve in the 1860 Brooklyn Census. There are 2 Dominick Colgans listed in service from Brooklyn.
Dominick Colgan 14th/84th NY (claimed to be the son of Dominick Colgan Sr. proprietor of Eagle Hotel, Brooklyn)
and
Dominick Colgan 164th NY
Is there anyway to find various hospital records in Washington DC? A way to find out if Dominick Colgan of the 164th died there after he was discharged?
