Connie,
Thanks for writing. I've checked my files but did not find an Ezra or Nancy Barkley. Also, no Adam or Margaret. So far,
I have not been able to prove our Irish line but of course, was raised Irish so someone had to be. Please stay in touch and if I get any more information I will let you Know.
Again thanks
Betty

My Barkley line is not yet tracked back to any Irish roots, but they certainly hung out with and married into Irish families. Ezra Barkley and Nancy Lonesf
Adam Barkley b. 1828 Ottawa, Canada and Nancy Gettis/Gettin
Amanda Jane Barkley b. 1853 N.Y. and Henry Vance b Ireland, married in Michigan
Mary Vance b. in Michigan married OW Fitzsimons whose family was from Ireland.
Neat if Barkley family is also Irish...! connie

My Barkley ancester was William Dudley Barkley, born in Kentucky and moved to Missouri. He also had a brother James who moved to Mo. They owned several properties in Benton and Reyves (Henry now) counties. They also owned Barkley brothers store in Warsaw Mo. All was lost during the Civil war. William Dudley who had remarred Sarah Bristow (1852)stayed in Benton county. James went to Texas and became a sheriff in Dallas. I need the name of William's first wife as their daughter married a Vannatta and they were my great grand parents.

William D. Barkley

Connie, I was a Barkley before marriage. I have been searching the history of the Barkley name. I have found a few Barkleys of German decent, The Barkley name was changed from Berkel and Barkle. The other records I found are decended from N. Ireland, mostly Atrim Co. The Irish Barkleys Immigrated from Scotland to Ireland in the 1600s.
There is an interesting story about this migration at web site Ancestry.com. Search the surname Barkley, page down and click Immigration and naturalization. Then clich Scot-Irish. This story is verry long and you have to hit previous page to read ahead so you can know the whole story, but it is very enlightning. Let me know what you think.
My Barkley ancestors came from N. Carolina to Alabama. I live in Tennessee. I may have more information you can use. Thanks Cindy
