Question About National Archives

Question About National Archives

I'm planning to visit the National Archives on Saturday as I'll be passing through Washington, DC that day. I'd like to view both the service records and pension applications of a couple veterans of the civil war (relatives of mine through marriage). I know the names of the regiments in which they served, their dates of service, and I've found them in the pension index on Fold3. However, I read on the following link that "pull times" are only Monday through Friday, which I'm assuming means that these documents can only be accessed on weekdays - is that correct? If so, would it be possible for me to request these documents ahead of time so that I would be able to view them on Saturday? I'm unable to arrive any earlier than Saturday.

It is correct that NARA only pulls textual records, including Civil War pension files and service records, on weekdays. You can look at files that are already pulled on Saturdays, but can't order any new ones to be pulled. I don't know if you can call them and request that the files be made available for you...it probably depends who answers the phone. Good luck!
